UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS

Last updated 12/6/2022

Hawai'i Unemployment AssistancE

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the federal government issued additional benefits for people who could not work.  These benefits included the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC), Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC), Extended Benefits (EB), Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation (MEUC), and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA).  These programs ended.  However, the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) continues to work on cases that have not been resolved.

Currently, unemployed workers can apply for regular unemployment benefits (UI).  They can receive up to 26 weeks of UI benefits.

Claimants can walk-in for general unemployment claims from 7:45 A.M. to 4:00 P.M, Wednesday through Friday.  They can also schedule telephone appointments with the Department of Labor to ask questions.

Please visit labor.hawaii.gov/ui and hawaiiunemploymentinfo.com for more information on the state's unemployment insurance division.
