Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence

The Hawaii Immigrant Justice Center provides free legal services to immigrant victims of domestic violence, including undocument immigrants.  We provide full representation before US Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Executive Office for Immigration Review (immigration court) for a variety of immigration benefits, including:
  • Form I-360 VAWA Self-Petition
  • Form I-751 Battered Spouse Waiver
  • Form I-918 U Nonimmigrant Visa
  • Removal Proceedings

VAWA Self-Petition

A battered spouse, parent, or child of a US citizen or a battered spouse or child of a permanent resident may file an immigration visa petition under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), as amended by the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). You may petition without the abuser's knowledge or permission.  If approved, you will be granted deferred action status and a work permit.  Approved self-petitioners may also be eligible to file for a green card as well as public assistance.  For more information, please see our brochures below.
