US CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES (USCIS) CHANGES
The USCIS Honolulu Field Office is open; however, a government order shutting down Honolulu County could change the ability for in-person’s visits. You should only go to the Honolulu Field Office if (1) you receive a notice of appointment and (2) you follow the COVID-19 protocols on your notice. Please keep in mind that if you are traveling to Honolulu from another county for an appointment, e.g., roundtrip from Hawai'i, Maui, or Kaua'i counties to Honolulu, you will need to abide by your county protocols upon your return.
If your appointment or biometrics was cancelled due to a Honolulu County shut-down, the USCIS Honolulu Field Office will send you a notice with a rescheduled date and time.
Renewal/replacement alien cards for Lawful Permanent Residents are taking longer due to COVID-19. The USCIS Honolulu Field Office invites you to write a letter to the Honolulu Field Office requesting a verification letter if you have already submitted a FORM I-90 and reside in the State of Hawaii. You will need to enclose a copy of the I-90 receipt notice with your request. On a case-by-case basis the county DMVs are accepting this verification letter from USCIS as temporary proof of legal status until your renewal/replacement alien card arrives. There is no guarantee that the DMV will accept the letter. The Honolulu Field Office is located at 500 Ala Moana Boulevard, Suite 2-403, Honolulu, HI 96813.
USCIS has offered 60-day extensions to deadlines for some notices and requests dated between March 1, 2020, through Jan. 1, 2020. Visit the USCIS COVID-19 webpage for more details (See Deadlines for Certain Requests, Notices, and Appeals).
If you need to talk to a live person, call the USCIS Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 between Monday and Friday, 8am to 8pm Eastern Standard Time.
USCIS offers limited information in other languages on their Multilingual Resource Center webpage.
