Technology specialist: honolulu

The Legal Aid Society of Hawai‘i, a non-profit law firm, endeavors to provide civil legal services throughout the State of Hawai‘i to those most in need.  Our mission is to provide essential legal services addressing critical legal needs through high quality legal advocacy, outreach and education in the pursuit of fairness and justice.  Our team of dedicated advocates work every day with a purposeful desire to help and serve our community.

Position:  The Technology Specialist is based in the Honolulu Office and assists in implementation of technology solutions to help clients and provides support to staff with technology and case management tools, Microsoft products, and other applications.  Provides staff training and IT onboarding of new hires. Assists in problem solving and planning for technology use and implementation by the firm.

Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent experience required.
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills and the ability to quickly learn and master legal services application programs including WordPress, DocAssemble, HotDocs, A2J interfaces, and Legal Server.  Training will be provided.
  • Must also have advanced understanding of basic computer programs (Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint; and Teams).
  • Demonstrable commitment to social justice or issues affecting low-income populations a plus.
  • Able to independently diagnose technology issue under the direction the Director of Technology.
  • Able to meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Able to work under pressure in an empathetic and professional manner.
  • Able to work collaboratively and maintain good working relationships in small working group.
  • Able to communicate complex technology matters in layman/simple terms and to provide clear instructions. 

Compensation:  $21.74 - $28.80/hour commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • Paid time off includes twenty-one (21) days of vacation, twelve (12) sick days, one (1) personal day, and fourteen (14) paid holidays annually (fifteen (15) during Election Year) with additional paid bereavement and jury duty leave.

Hybrid work is available, subject to program and office needs.  Hybrid working conditions are subject to change.
